it's paint today

today the painters are coming.
i have never had the joy of saying that.
i have always painted myself.
for 10 years of marriage, i have
raised every paint brush (or sponge) that has
touched a wall, cupboard,
or ceiling in my house. (mom you helped out
when you could. thanks! :) i have fauxed
friends' and family's, and clients' walls too.
and i was happy to do it.

today i will not touch a paint brush.
or tape, or a ladder, or drop cloths,
or putty, or caulk,
or fill nail holes.

and i'm ok with that.
