maui- last night

after the dinner cruise and award show, a few of us met downstairs for dessert.
it's the outside restaurant, ono's.

we pushed some tables together and were just chatting when a few people said
they had hoped to hear gar sing at some point on the trip.

someone suggested gar ask the guitar guy if he wanted a break to get a drink
or something. he played all night, and it sounded like a sad oldies station
that only had one song. kinda just blended in to the background until you weren't
even aware it was live entertainment.

gar asked if anyone had a pick and mark produced 3 from his pocket. there was a quick
conversation about playing a 12 string guitar, and gar was on his way to the mike.

i felt a little nervous for him. what must gar be thinking right now? then again, he is the
king of this kind of stuff.

there was a quick exchange and the guy stepped aside. here's the youtube of gar singing:

a few seconds into gar's song, and everyone was looking up from their dinner conversation. gar got more applause from this first song than the guy did all night. as gar walked back to the table, guitar man fiddled with a few things, and then packed it up for the night. i don't blame him. one bit.

maui day 5 coming soon.

Wow. Only Gar would have the guts to do something like that! That would have been awesome to see in person.
