happy school year!

the first day of school we celebrated with a special dinner. (inspiration from nie). bailey asked why i was making a big deal of such a lame event. we pushed ahead anyway.

we enjoyed fresh spinach/ricotta ravioli (ravlioli as alex says)
warm french bread with pesto dipping sauce
broccoli and baby carrots (kedets in adamese)
the special drink (strawberry bananna orange juice)
& white cake with granny's famous chocolate frosting

adam distributed the cups.

adam filled up on broccoli and kedets. and attempted to skewer the carrot but it was a little
too firm so utensils were optional by the end of the meal.

alex loves the bread. bailey loved the spinach ravioli and drink.

and everyone loved the chocolate frosted cake. it only saw 2 mornings. i came into the kitchen and saw these 2 forks on the cake plate! alex and his friend were hiding...

i can't believe how quick these kids are growing up! we had such a great summer that i almost hate to see it end. i love hanging out with them, laughing, swimming, reading, eating popsicles, staying up and sleeping in, vacations, and just the fun, magical feeling summer always brings to kids.

here's to a great new school year!
